From the outside, the Lugard Brooklyn is a well proportioned and highly attractive traditional log cabin. The frontage houses wide array of glass: a double glass door, two outwardly opening casement windows and two fixed windows, all double glazed, giving the building a rather grand face and giving excellent light inside. Above is an attractive felt shingled pitched roof with a stylish 30cm overhang. and above the entrance doors is a elegant looking pitched canopy giving the cabin a focal centrepiece. The roof is available in five colours as standard or a bitumen shingle roof can be purchased as an extra option.
Inside, the first noticeable thing about the Lugard Brooklyn is its spaciousness. At 3.5m wide x 6m in length is gives 21 square metres of space inside, easily allowing for wide variety of uses and for creating multi-zone areas. With the generous height 2.3m at the eaves rising to 3.15m at the apex and multitude of windows along the front, the cabin has a light and airy feel to it. The sturdy floor is made from tongue and groove timber that is included in the standard price.
The construction is solid and robust, made from sustainable Nordic Spruce. The standard tongue and groove walls are a good 44mm thick and should provide plenty of insulation to keep the cabin usable through most of the year. Extra insulation in the roof and floor is available if you want to use it a an extra guest room all through the year including the winter – as is an option of the thicker 68mm walls which can be purchased for around £1000 extra. For most people, this won’t be necessary, the cabin is very well built and made to last.
To ensure the longevity of the building, the cabin is pre-treated before arrival and can be stained in four diffrerent colours when purchased, As with all wooden buildings left to the elements, we do recommend giving your cabin an annual treatment to prevent nature taking it’s toll,
